Emily Everhard is a queer writer, director and actress who tells stories about female underdogs and outsiders. Emily is a 2024 Sundance Fellow and Austin Film Festival x Enderby Entertainment Filmmaking Fellow. Her films have won awards at Austin Film Festival and Key West Film Festival and screened at Oscar Qualifying Festivals including Palm Springs ShortFest, HollyShorts, Nashville Film Festival, BendFilm, and more.
Born in Colorado and raised in Los Angeles, Emily starred in a CBS sitcom and appeared in various film and television productions on ABC, NBC and FOX. After studying History at Dartmouth College, Emily worked on documentaries for Netflix, Sundance/AMC Channel, and PBS before earning her MFA in Screenwriting & Directing from Columbia University.
Now, Emily pulls from her documentary fieldwork and under-appreciated historical moments to craft unique narratives set within subcultures and niche communities. She often uses humor to explore body autonomy, identity, and love. For “fun,” Emily is training for her first marathon.
